I'm enjoying the Retroid Pocket 2S. Good performance on the device for gaming on the go enjoying playing PS1 games and good for android apps with button support.
I originally bought this to replace my Anbernic RG280V with something more powerful, has android and is just as portable. It does this and more - the support for Wii games was a pleasant surprise with the majority of the games working well. The more demanding games I don't mind missing at all (theres too much that works well already!).
There are some niggles that I think YouTube videos and written reviews have mentioned that I've not really noticed :-
- The hinge may be loose or even break in the wrong hands but honestly its been locked in position quite well when I've been using it.
- The L1 and R1 buttons seem quite narrow when the screen is fully open but I have slim fingers.
- The buttons seem hard to push down fully but I just push harder, they also seem to been loosening a bit.
- Yes its fiddly to setup but there are guides to walk you through the better emulators and launchers available.
There are some features that I wasn't expecting as well :-
- Gamepad support is great with Retroids version of Android and the physical buttons will more than likely be supported. If they aren't theres Retroids utility software which is likely to solve things (I haven't needed to use it yet!).
- The extra meta buttons are a great idea and come in handy when mapping the controls. Some software like Dolphin even automaps these keys to sensible choices!
- The addition of a basic FM radio and music app is a great idea when I'm not gaming as I can now use this with headphones as a second device whilst travelling, walking, etc.
- Its quite thick but otherwise small compared to the likes of a Switch or a Switch Lite (probably a Pocket 3, 3+, 4 or 4 Pro) and easily fits in a pocket and because its a clamshell it doesn't need a case, which makes it even smaller.
All in all its a brilliant handheld I'll be playing on for a long while. I just hope that Retroid make a Flip 2 as there are one or two games that work well on the Pocket 4 and Pocket 4 Pro that are missing on this one.
I've been using retro handhelds ever since the early days of the modded PSP scene and the Dingoo devices. When I say that this scene has jump leaps and bounds, I seriously mean it, and no device represents that better than the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro. This thing is an absolute beast of a machine in its form factor, and has handled everything I've thrown at it and then some. With other devices, there was always some sort of compromise (low resolution, low framerate, choppy sound), but not with the 4 Pro.
DroiX was also a great help with the overall experience, next day shipping made it to me all the way up in Scotland, very efficient and reliable.
Great little handheld, deffinetly improved once getting garlic OS up and running and customized to my liking, bought my own SD card got things up and running in no time even some DS games run well
Excellent delivery time and customer service were great with updates
Would highly recommend droix and this device to anyone looking for a small easy to pick up retro handheld
After having a steamdeck and also the legion go, tho they are both great at emulation and able to play pc titles the issue I had was the size of them, not good when traveling taking alot of room in backpack, not something I was comfy using on transport with the huge size of them. What I wanted was something powerful enough for emulationstation capable of running all my backup games from spectrum right up to switch and boy this odin 2 Pro packs a punch for such a small handheld. This is so much more comfy in the hand, easier to take out and about, great battery life and gameplay.
Hands down the best handheld I've owned.
I also ordered it with case which is great and a must to protect this great device.
Thank you for such a fast delivery aswell that arrived less than 24hrs.
The case is remarkably compact and lightweight, but it is built to a very high standard. The material feels premium and I trust it to protect my Odin. Usually with a case like this, you can feel and press the buttons through the case, which can be a little bit disconcerting. This case however is so well made that no matter where you compress it, the Odin is not being affected. I can't even click in the analogue sticks, which is amazing. My only criticism is that if you want to carry anything else with your Odin, such as charging wires or an SD card reader, you'll need to take them separately as there is no additional space for them. But for me, this isn't an issue since I have the Odin in its case within a bigger electronics bag with my headphones and chargers when I'm travelling for any long time.
DroiX was the perfect place for me to buy this, seeing as I bought my Odin a couple of months ago and I didn't want to pay for overseas shipping and wait for weeks. I paid about £25 including postage within the UK and it took about 3 days to arrive. I'm impressed and I will be using this site again in the future.
Excellent piece of kit. I was surprised just how easy it was to get up and running. The power unit is pretty large so opted to use an iec lead as suggested. No issues with setup, connected via thunderbolt 4 to my laptop, dowloaded the drivers off the English AMD website rather than the Chinese language site which is given in the instructions. Worked with no problems and has enabled an integrated graphics laptop to play the latest games. Very pleased
very impressed with the performance, great peace of hardware. many thanks.
ANBERNIC RG353P Retro Gaming Console
Prompt service, came quick. Excellent handheld console. Would buy from DroiX again.
I held off buying the first version of the odin because I knew this was coming eventually and I'm not disappointed, it will run most of your library no problem, even the most high end emulators. Android gaming only leaves me disappointed when google play restricts what you buy, Wreckfest for example is one android game that is "not compatible" and could be easily run on the Odin. I have Grid which runs beautifully though so it will have no problems with most android games I would guess. I have not tested streaming yet but intend to hook it to my ps4. If my vita can do it, I'm sure this will be fine.
Very cool device to own, glad I steered away from steam deck and windows based devices, the battery life is impressive on the Odin and its more compact and comfortable in terms of weight.
Speed is far superour to mi box s most apps I use catered for so very happy
I was looking for pc compact enough and yet reasonably fast to connect meeting audio and video using crestron. This is fast and works fantastic
